My Lenten Journey

Day 15

Today you're nearing the mid-point of this time of prayer, fasting and Godly works. Psalm 100 speaks about entering God's presence with thankfulness, gladness, joy and with praise in your heart.

Most of us go through life as problem solvers and "fixers", always seeking solutions and resolution to conflicts in relationships and tasks in the every day. It seems as if being a problem solver is our call in life. Chasing problems and fixing everything that is wrong around us each day can become exhausting. We become so good at fixing problems that pretty soon, all we see are problems that need fixing. We miss the joy in the every day.

Up to now, maybe all you have done is focus on the hardships and burdens that you've been bringing to the Lord in prayer.

Jesus said, "who among you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?" (Luke 12:25)

Declair now, that today is going to be different.  Your focus today is to start this morning being joy-filled in the Lord.

Come into His presence and just be. Mary the beloved disciple, sat at the Lord's feet even when it irritated her sister Martha. The gospel account of Mary's "Holy Time-Out" was where Jesus declared: "she has chosen what is better and it will not be taken from her" and today, neither will you be deprived of it. This is what the Lord desires from us. To spend time with him and not worry about fixing everything and everyone.

Write down some things that bring you joy today and be bold; sing a song of praise to God.

Pray that the Holy Spirit will stir an urgency in you to press in close to Him and to see what He has in store for you.

Prayer of consecration

Lord,

I confess my sins and failures to you and I am very sorry for having sinned against You.  Give me the strength to seek and accept Your grace and forgiveness.

Lord Jesus, you poured yourself out completely and died for me so that I would have eternal life. I claim that wonderful and indescribable gift of salvation.

Create a pure heart in me, refresh my spirit and renew my mind and body.

I consecrate myself to you Lord and ask that you use me according to your holy will.

I pray in Jesus name.

Amen
