Ever do something wrong in a friendship and that even though you really felt sorry for it thought that you could never be forgiven? Or thought that even if you were forgiven your relationship with your friends would never be the same again?
That's probably how Peter felt about Jesus. How He denied Jesus three times and now Jesus could never forgive him and that their relationship would never be the same.
Maybe Jesus wouldn't love him any more as a close friend.
Wow was Peter ever wrong! Jesus knew that Peter would deny him and no matter what, Jesus would always love Peter. Jesus even called Peter three times to love Him back.
Wow.
No matter what you have done, God always calls you back so He can love you and me more and more.
