Our Lenten Journey 2026

This is a season of reflection; a time of repentance, preparation, prayer and fasting. An opportunity to focus our sights on true discipleship and becoming who God created us to be in the midst of being our most real and authentic selves.

Day 2

As you begin this journey of prayer and seeking a deeper relationship with God, you may be uncertain as to where you to begin. Praying this prayer wherever you are in this journey of faith is never a bad place to start.

Lord,

Here and now, I confess my sins and failures to You and I am heartfully sorry for having sinned against You.

Grant me the strength to seek and accept Your forgiveness.

Lord Jesus, on the cross on Calvary, You poured Yourself  out completely for me and I claim that wonderful and indescribable gift of salvation.

Lord, create a clean heart in me.

Transform me and renew me in every way; mind, body and spirit.

Be the Lord of my life and guide me in Your ways everlasting.

I consecrate myself to You Lord and ask that You use me according to Your Holy Will.

I pray in the name of Jesus.

Amen

This passage from the book of Daniel is one source for the idea of a praying and fasting. Both prayer and fasting are biblical and were the first step in seeking God's guidance.

Jesus, right after being baptised by John, went out to the wilderness to spend time alone with God the Father. It would be essential to Jesus' earthly ministry and to the furture of humanity, showing us what obedience to the will of the Father looks like.

As you set apart these coming weeks in preparation for Easter to seek God, know that God has already heard your prayer. He knows your heart, He knows your anxious thoughts and He is already at work in your life and working on your behalf.

Come clean and tell the Father everything that is on your heart, the good, the bad and the ugly. He loves you with an everlasting love and wants only the best for you.

What specificly are you asking for? Is it peace, is it healing, is it forgiveness, is it direction or clarity of vision that you're seeking from God during these 40 days? Just know that God is a giver of all good gifts.

But do not be mistaken, there will be days of great peace but there may also be days of conflict and chaos, but take heart and know that God allows both to hone your ability to listen more intentionally and intensly.

Stay in a state of prayer throughout the day today so that you may hear what it is God is trying to say to you. As you set aside time and invite God to be with you, God will surround you. Peace begets peace, and the very nature of God's presence consecrates the space you're in. As He speaks to you, concerns for the moment will ease and in it's place He will give you strength and peace for the moment, and that is enough.
