Day 39

Parade of Hosannas

Just days before, the people were amazed at what Jesus had done for Lazarus, but on this morning they gathered along the narrow streets laying down palm leaves and cloaks and shouted joyfully as they watched Jesus enter the city. They didn't want to ask him for teachings or healings, they just wanted to worship him.

Seeing what Jesus had done, the poeple from Bethany, Jerusalem and even farther away couldn't do anything except to walk before him with palm branches and cry out: "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest!"

Have you ever approached God in prayer and said something like this: "God I don't want anything other than to tell you how much I love you and i just want to give you glory!"

Notice there isn't a: "and while we're on the subject lord, could you...? (fill in your request here).

Tomorrow is Palm Sunday and an excellent opportunity to do something different.

Today give God the glory and empty yourself out and lay it down before the Lord in prayer just as if  you were  laying it down like a palm branch before the King of kings.

Prayer of consecration

Lord,

I confess my sins and failures to you and I am very sorry for having sinned against You.  Give me the strength to seek and accept Your grace and forgiveness.

Lord Jesus, you poured yourself out completely and died for me so that I would have eternal life. I claim that wonderful and indescribable gift of salvation.

Create a pure heart in me, refresh my spirit and renew my mind and body.

I consecrate myself to you Lord and ask that you use me according to your holy will.

I pray in Jesus name.

Amen
